List of Available non-DIY Cubes in Local Stores

I just bought one of each available cube sa TRU today and I came to the realization na wala pa palang list sa forums ng locally available cubes. Merong isang post si pajodaep na galing sa speedcubing.com but that discussed international cubes and DIY in detail. So, naisipan ko rin gumawa para ma-enlighten ang newbies sa cubing and para magkaroon ng idea ang ibang cubers ng prices and comparisons ng local cubes. Here we go!

2x2x2

Eastsheen 2x2x2 Intellectual Cube (P230.00)
--> Ito pa lang so far ang nakikita kong available sa local stores. Pwede na kaagad siyang gamitin for speedcubing right out of the box, lalo na kung i-lube mo pa after breaking it in (na virtually hindi na kailangan). Color scheme, parang official Rubik's rin but purple replaces orange by default. Meron nito sa Toy Kingdom, TRU, National Bookstore, at sa puzzle shops ng Robinson malls.

3x3x3

Magic Cube (P104.00 as of last check)
--> Noob cube kung tawagin dahil ito ang sub-par quality cube na pwede na ring gamitin for learning the basics. Matigas at di pwedeng gamitan ng finger tricks unless sobrang lakas ng daliri mo. Reacts badly to lube at madaling mawala ang stickers (less than a month). Marami sa National Bookstore.

Rubik's Cube (c) (P199.75)
--> Good quality cube na pwedeng intro cube to speedcubing. Medium quality, madaling i-break in. Di gaanong matingkad ang kulay tulad ng Eastsheen cubes. Reacts well to lube. Cube life, up to 2 months before stickers eventually give in at magloko na ang inner surface. Madaling buksan at linisin. Sold exclusively at Toys R' Us.

4x4x4

Eastsheen 4x4x4 Intellectual Cube (P550.00? Please confirm.)
--> Di pa ako bumibili nito pero I tested out my friend's non-lubed cube at ok naman siya. Medyo maliit compared sa Rubik's Revenge (c) pero excellent for speedcubing practice. As with the 2x2x2 version, matingkad ang kulay, purple replaces orange by default, at sobrang laki ng stickers. Meron sa puzzle stores sa Robinson Malls, Toy Kingdom, and sa National Bookstore.

Rubik's Revenge (c) (P499.75)
--> Average sized cubelets, approx. half-inch longer on each side than the Rubik's Cube (c). Reacts well to lube, stickers are not bright but good enough for recognition, comes with stand, and good enough for practice. Not recommended for speedcubing dahil medy mabigat and cubelets tend to pop more often kapag nag-cut ng corners. Available sa TRU.

5x5x5

Eastsheen 5x5x5 Intellectual Cube (P650.00)
--> Same with ES 4x4x4, pero the size is relatively smaller. Good for speedcubing right out of the box. Available at Toy Kingdom, National Bookstore and Robinson puzzle shops.

Rubik's Professor's Cube (c) (P599.75)
--> Approx. 3 inches a side, a bit small, reacts well to lube pero madalas ring mag-pop kapag binilisan ang turns. Not recommended for speedcubing, colors the same with the 4x4x4 version. Available sa TRU.

Other Accessories

Cyclo Silicone Spray (P279.75)
--> The preferred silicone lubricant. Comes with a thin red straw na ginagamit to lube the inner surfaces of the cube (credit to crashbug for the correction). Orange bottle and weighs 283g or one-fourth liter. Good for a month or two. Available sa Handyman at Ace Hardware.

Note: Pwede ang kahit anong silicone spray sa cube basta wag lang ang may nakalagay na WD-40. Sinisira nito ang cube by wasting the stickers early. May chance rin na magkaroon ng "himulmol" ang plastic ng cube that will cause a lot of friction inside. Kahit may nakalagay na safe for plastic, plastic ng kotse ang ibig sabihin nun. Use at own risk.

Rubik's Cube Shrinked Version Keychain (P179.75)
--> Fully functional 3x3x3, kaso about an inch per side lang. Can be lubed and used for speedcubing kung hindi mo alintana ang keychain na nakakabit. Comes with a solution booklet. Available at TRU.

Haha. Oo nga, meron din dun. Nakabili ako ng keychain dun na dalawa ang blue sides at sobrang tigas. Panalo sa presyo, talo sa gamit. :thumbsup:

san ka nakakita ng key-chain? mapuntahan nga. gumawa lang kasi ako ng sarili kong keychain kaya sobrang laki talaga.

Sa tiangge dun sa may KNL. Yung mga nagbebenta sa kariton. Meron sila for P15. Haha. Ang tigas.

Jome, paki edit po ung sa cyclo, dapat hindi nilalagyan ng lube ung inner parts of the cube(core, center piece) kasi mabilis makasira ang cube.. thanx

Good sila out of the box. Smooth, kaunting break-in lang, ok na.

nakakita na din ako nun tsaka nakagamit isang araw pag tingin ko mga kaklase ko puro ganun ang hawak. mejo mahirap nga lang siyang isolve habang nakakabit sa bag hehehe.

saktong 270 php lang po ang cyclo sa handyman sa TRU.. bibili nga ako tom. to chk parin hehe.. may 3x3x3 na ba sa TRU TRINOMA? badly want one before the competition

jumel! eastsheens nlng... mas magaan kaysa sa rubiks revenge and professors cube... tsaka magandang gamitin for speedcube... meron akong professors cube pati rubiks revenge... ung 5x5 ko eh nagpapop minsan... tapos ung 4x4 ko nmn eh WARAK! as in sira talaga! ung center piece nasira! badtrip nga eh...

eastsheens kasi parang DIY na rin.. kasi pede mong baklasin.. pedeng luwagan... mas maliit kasya sa rubiks.com at mas magaan... suggest ko lang un ah.. pero nasa iyo parin ang desisyon kung ano buy mo hehehe.. ako kasi gusto ko rin bumili ng eastsheens 4x4 and 5x5 kahit mahal...im trying to save money.. hehe gastos ko ngaun month na toh!
