The Reason why the Philippines is poor

The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country:
This can be shown by countries like India & Egypt , that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.
On the other hand, Canada , Australia & New Zealand , that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries, and are rich.
The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.
Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.
Another example is Switzerland , which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate in the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products of the best quality! It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order &am! p; labor, which made it the world's strongest, safest place.
Executives from rich countries who communicate with their counterparts in poor countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference.
Race or skin color are also not important: immigrants labeled lazy in their countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.
What is the difference then? The difference is the attitude of the people, framed along the years by the education & the culture & flawed tradition.
On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich & developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the following principles in their lives:
1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
6. Work loving.
7. Strive for savings & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.
10. and of course...Discipline
In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.
The Philippines is not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in natural resources.
We are poor because we lack the correct attitude. We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of rich & developed societies.

and people who live or has been abroad for quite a time (like you) would easily understand
but what makes a country poor is really the people who lives there
anyway i wanna share a story that my mom tells :]
HOW GOD MADE THE PHILIPPINES! !
Once upon a time in the kingdom of Heaven, God was
missing for six days.
Eventually, Michael the Archangel found him, resting
on the seventhday.
He inquired of God, "Where have you been?"
God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly
pointed downwards
through the clouds, "Look,Michael. Look what I've made."
Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"
"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put Life on it. I'm going to call
it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance."

Know what I hate? Mga tambay sa kanto (let's call 'em TSKs) who don't even give an effort para paunlarin buhay nila. Tapos everyday habits pa nila yosi, alak, mangholdap and whatever pathetic activities you can think of... Then ang lakas pa ng loob nilang iridicule ka pag dadaan ka lang na di na nga sila pinapansin.

Gusto ko lng pong sabihin na hindi lamang government officials ang corrupt. Minsan pati mga jeepney drivers, minsan mga kabataan din. Sa mga school puro CHEATING, hanggang paglaki, dala ang ganung ugali... Hindi lang po gobyerno ang may problema, stop blaming the government for everythingat saka... CORRUPT government po kasi tayo... from the smallest officials to the highest officials... from BARANGAY TANOD to PRESIDENT of the Philippines... eh may corruption...

pero hindi lahat ng government corrupt...tingnan niyo...maram nang nagawa si gloria...eh wala namang ginagawa yung citizens pahirapan si gloria...eh ano naman kung nanalo si FPJ ano gagawin niya!? nakatapos ba siya ng pag-aaral?mataas lang votes dahil popular....kung natalo si goria... baka masmaayos pero di ko alam kung kaya ni FPJ yung maging presidente

I agree with that essay Mat posted.
And why do we always blame the government? Yes, our government has problems, but look around you (within this country), walk outside and observe. Look at the people near the pedestrian lane or those crossing, watch the traffic lights, watch TV, listen to the radio, etc. You will see that its not just the government, its us, mga pinoy. Its the filipinos in this country that made our country like this. Filipinos raging from government officials to normal citizens. And yet we blame one another, government officials blame other government officials, citizens blame the government. We keep on blaming one another. Just look at us!

Our country has no more hope... hay sad to say parang wala na tayong pag-asang makaahon sa hirap... But anyway look at the bright side... baka may mahalal na matinong presidente na kakatakutan ng mga tao para maging disiplinado muli ang bansa parang noong panahon ni dating pangulong Marcos... pero kung walang magaling na pinuno...hay... lipat na lang tayo ng bansa...pero kung gusto lang ng mga taong talikuran ang bansa dahil sa mukha na itong walang pag-asa, mas lalong babagsak ito...

pero kung nakikinig kayo sa news...alam ni gloria na mali yung ZTE pero hindi niya sinabing i continue o istart ung ZTE....iba yung nagsign ng contract...wala na kong narinig tungkol kay jun lozada pero ang alam ko parang stage actor siya noon...paano niyo na alam kung totoo ang sinasabi niya? :/
