CUBEMEET??? WIN prizes!!!
Dear All,
(ATTENTION: cubemeet organizers)
For an added fun and in the spirit of this Christmas season, I will be giving away three(3) cubes for every successful cubemeet until the end of this year.
I am not really sure if this is already being done during cubemeets. Anyway, here are the guidelines:
1) organize a cubemeet
1.1 designate a responsible cubemeet organizer. (identify a substitute in case the organizer fails to attend)
1.2 set a definite date and start time.
1.3 set a definite meeting place. (you may change venue later after meeting attendees as scheduled)
1.4 confirm at least 10 attendees.
2) enlist if who will be joining the fun/competition. competition categories (at least 5 participants for each category):
2.1 cat A: best time category (3x3x3)
2.2 cat B: best of 5 average time category (3x3x3)
2.3 cat C: best megaminx solver category (megaminx)
3) materials
3.1 pen/pencil and papers for recording
3.2 3x3x3 cubes and megaminx
3.3 timers (at least 1 stopwatch. stackmat would be best but optional.)
4) challenge proper for cat A and cat B
4.1 organizers will auto generate 5 scrambles for which all contestants will solve similarly.
4.2 each contestant solve times should be recorded accordingly.
4.3 consolidating the data should show who was able to record the fastest time (winning cat A) and averaging best for all the 5 solves (winning cat B).
5) challenge proper for cat C
5.1 everyone who can solve and can get hold of a megaminx could join.
5.2 qualifying rounds. there will be three(3) qualifying rounds.
5.3 scrambles: organizers could either have a common scramble for all or opt to ensure that each megaminx are fairly scrambled enough.
5.4 for each qualifying round, the first one to finish will qualify.
5.5 final round. the 3 qualifiers will compete for the final round and the winner gets to win cat C.
5.6 organizers will record the solve times for each qualifier as well.
6) the prizes
6.1 since this is just for fun, don't expect the most expensive cubes available. :-)
6.2 however, these are very good quality cubes and nice for starters in speedcubing.
6.3 see for yourselves and share your feedbacks. got nice unique features and surprises on it! :-)
As soon as guidelines 1 to 3 are set, organizers are requested to send me a private message and for me to confirm.
I try to simplify the guidelines above in consideration of possible resource limitations such as timers, megaminx, etc. To the experts, if you have suggestions, please let me know so we can improve accordingly.
I will either give the prizes in advance, during the cubemeet(if i can attend), or later after the cubemeet depending on when i can personally meet with the organizer for distribution to the winner/s, or directly to the winners.
My availability is normally within the vicinity of Ayala cor Buendia by 6pm on weekdays. I can also arrange a meeting on Thursday mornings at the Galleria in Ortigas. Those not within the area, just message me and let's arrange a convenient way to share the fun.
Clarifications? Just please let me know. Thanks!
Happy Halloween and adv. Merry Christmas to All !

Re: CUBEMEET??? WIN prizes!!!
We, the Cebuano cubers, always do this on a weekly basis...Every Saturdays from 1pm onwards...What we do is we cube and share stuff at first then during the middle part we do like a minicompetition...we use scrambles from the competition scrambler-generator and also tally the times with what is used during competitions...likewise, we simulate it as if it's during competitions...the cubes are covered before inspection and we observe the inspection time...not only that, after solves the judge/s inspect/s the cube if it was properly solved, in short it's like WCA-sanctioned...by the way, we do sometimes OH, BLD, 4x4x4, 5x5x5....anything goes as long as everyone is game...

Re: CUBEMEET??? WIN prizes!!!
great to hear!
as long as the basic guidelines i have posted for now above are met, please let me know. i could then give you in advance the prizes i have pledged perhaps via air21 or similar... just give me your exact mailing address details for the package.
i will try to post some pictures of the cubes and possibly video to give everyone an idea of what's to be won.
trust everyone that the cubemeets will be at least weekly if almost same attendees and participants are joining. we encourage to have newbies join your cubemeets as well.
cheers!

Re: CUBEMEET??? WIN prizes!!!
really?..that's so generous of you...Cebuano cubers will surely look forward to that...this coming Saturday we will resume with our cube session since sembreak's almost over and some of the cubers have gone back to Cebu from the break. I think our succeeding cube sessions would give way to allow Iligan Open 2008 participants to practice for the upcoming competition.
The great thing also in our weekly cube session is that it's not just us alone, often we receive calls and txt messages of interested parties wanting to join and learn together with us. One time we were invited to organize a cube competition in a certain university during their intrams so they communicated with us and now some of people we met during the minicompetition drops by from time to time to join the session. Nevertheless, we do share tips and hints on cubing in general and it's open to everyone including newbies.
