Share Your V-CUBES Experience
i got the last one available from venom last week. thanks venom!
pikit mata ko siya binili considering its skyrocket price. lol
anyway, it's really very much worth owning it considering it is the very first of its kind.
also, i have proven my theory that this is the best cube to own and learn if you want to be able to fully learn to solve any size of cube!
i have also proven that starting at 4x4x4, even cubes are more challenging to solve than odd cubes.
personally for me, the not so favorable things about the current v-cube 6 are the following:
1) prone to popping out especially when turning the outer layers.
2) its weight i believe can be improved. they should learn from ES materials design.
3) the original stickers are not impressively placed.
i'm still trying to break-in slowly the cube and lubricate gradually the outer layers and i think there's an improvement.
i still however do hand/wrist turns to the outer layers rather than just using a finger to avoid popout!
with my slow solving ability and careful turnings, i'm only able to manage solving it between 15-20mins.
i enjoy and savor every moment of solving the centers, edges, and the final full solve! hehe
whenever i experience a popout, my general trick is to make sure to check and put back the core in its proper place first.
then place back the center tiles and going around with the center corner as the last piece for me to put back.
this is another learning opportunity area which you have no other choice but to learn how to re-assemble! lol
to those who already have a v-cube 6, please do share your experiences for us to learn also.
especially on how to avoid or totally eliminate a popout.
any other tips and techniques you can share to improve the cube would be much appreciated.
thanks!

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
the stickers are like that because of the plastic. its not poorly placed.
another thing, v-cubes doesn't react to lube. It already has a lube when you buy them. Re-lubing will have no effect of whatsoever.
I found a way to remove the 'click' of the v6 (which causes the pops), but I haven't tested it yet. v6 is too expensive for me to sand/glue pieces together.
overall, i like my v6. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
thanks for your feedback paololzki...
the one i got do have some stickers not properly placed on the centers of the tiles. this is perhaps due to mass production and caused by the automated machines doing this. if this is not manually done, i think they should at least have a quality control check to make sure they release good quality products.
from my experience, the gradual lubing helped improve the outer layer turn.
would you like to share how to remove the click? however, i think the so called click is actually a nice feature of the cube. it allows you to snap the layer into place and ensures proper alignment before doing your next turn.
also, the click may also be attributed to the v-cube 6's unique feature of allowing you to turn inside layers independently! i am not certain then on why the click needs to be removed. if removing the click and still retains its great feature of allowing you to turn inside layers independently, then it would be great. how high is the guarantee that there will no longer be pops when removing the 'click' you refer to?
'hope to hear more tips from you guys...
may i add this tip/suggestion when working on your v-cube 6: be sure to be in a controlled place where you can easily get or pick-up your cube's pieces if ever they pop out. iwasan niyo sa jeep, bus, or mga alanganin na place where you'll have a hard time looking for your flying pieces. hehe
if you just do gentle turns to it (don't force speedcubing), it won't popout.

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
hello! v6 is really a popper... what my friend did to my v6 (the_joker) is that he cleaned it and lubed it.. my pb for v6 is 6:XX which in time the joker brakes with 6:xx also... anyways not using it for a while now.. na kay the joker kasi.. hahahaha....
Nways... it would help to be familiar on how to put the v6 pieces together in a fast manner.. since kailangan mo sya gawin to improve your time.. also try to find which is the best grip for you... !!! good luck

@cubecoach
yup... it is worth owning/having v6... i believe that is the one i reserved from sir venom... unfortunately... because of my expensive medication and regular checkups... di ko nakuha kay venom... sorry po talaga sir venom...
popper talaga ang v6... one thing i hate is this... outer layer...grabe magpop...
siguro sa paggamit na lang... i found one solution to my R U R' U'... push it lightly but with speed... para dumulas sya...
@paololzki...
kailangan linisin mo muna yun cube... bago mo lube... nagtatalo yun silicone oil (comes with v6) at silicone spray (cyclo)... kaya nagiging negative reactions...
@hunter357...
anong V6... wala akong V6... akin to... hehehehehehhe... :D:D:D:D
gusto mo hiramin V6 ko... ??? heheheheheh..:D:D...
balik ko sayo dis week... thanks...

i'll try this sometime. nabasa ko kasi somewhere na hindi nagrereact sa lube kaya hindi ko na ni lube. pero i did follow what you said about cleaning it using cyclo instead of water.
congrats nga pala on having sub2 centers. ang galing. paturo ako minsan ng last 4 edges ng big cubes sayo. since i'm using the same method as what you are using.
pagaling ka ha. nagkasakit ka pala

@paololzki...
thanks for the concern...
no problem... dali lang last 4 quadredges (edges)... basta alam mo lang yun edge flip...
about sa lubing V5 V6 V7... it is a must... pero sa V6 di ganun ang improvement pero it help lessen the POP... unlike sa V5 at V7 grabe improvement pag nalube...
hehehehhehehe... :D:D:D

heheheheheheh... :D:D:D:D

i miss the part na dapat tanggalin ung lube nila eh. before cleaning it with cyclo. ill try it again sometime. syempre practice talaga ung key. hehe.. thanks kuya allan. nipo-polish ko lng 3x3 times ko then big-cubes na ulit. sub 1 stackmat nako sa 6x6 eh, hehehe... pero di parin ganun kabilis.

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
MY VCUBE EXPERIENCE = VCUBE 7
Good day everybody.
I luckily happen to own one Vcube and this is the V7. It came from Sir Eryx (aka venom - THANKS A LOT Master-Senpai) on his 1st batch of ordering...(which means magka-batch tayo sir cubecoach..he he he). I have the option to choose from the 3 vcubes but I chose the 7.
Why?
Well aside from the PRICE, I already have a Rubiks 5x5 that works well for me, but not for Speedcubers because it is so loose na one wrong turn might cause it to pop. I have 2nd thoughts on the V6 because of what i read...that is, of it being a popper, and I thought for a 3k cube...sayang naman. I just said to myself, I will wait for the Vcube 6B, maybe the performance/quality would be better. So I choose the Vcube 7, and thank God, for a 4k cube, it is worth it.
Actually, sumasagi pa din sa conscience ko yung amount..4k...gosh..puwede ko na painumin ng magdamagan baranggay namin ah. he he he. But kidding aside, the consolation for me is the feeling of satisfaction and parang vanity na din. I said to myself, I own one of the "first-of-its-kind" cube.
The performance of my Vcube 7.
At first, the turning was kind a hard but after breaking it in, it tends to change..slightly. I noticed with the cube is after a period of turning/twisting, there's a feeling of "sleakiness" on its surface and maybe that is the "built-in lubricant". My first solve was tiring, it took me an hour, and boy my hands and fingers are somewhat aching. So I decided to lubricate it with small amount of Cyclo. The turning/twisting change dramatically, it became smooth so the turning was not that "heavy" anymore. The only drawback...because of it being white, kitang-kita yung mga libag sa cubies..pasmado kasi ako. . So everytime I finish playing with it, I need to inspect and clean the cubies.
The way I solve the V7 is like a solving a 5x5, same principle applies except on the last two centers and the last two "penta-edges" (tama ba? ). I use logic on the last two center, and because of that, ubos oras kasi wala naman ako logic eh. . For the last two "5-edges", I am aiming for edge-flip parity (yun lang kasi memo ko) then I just visualized the cubies into a 5x5 then execute the parity alg. At first, nakakaduling just like what Sir Joker said but in time masasanay din. After that, solve the cube like a 3x3x na din.....my avg time = 45 mins. .
Thats all, want to keep on but this is way too long na.
That is my Vcube experience.
BTW:
If some of you are wondering on the assembling/disassembling of big cubes and others, below is the link of the site in detail on how-to's. It is in french but you can translate the site into english. The link came from cubesmith.

it was worth to have v7... sobra... pati price sobra... hehehehehhe... :D:D:D
and again... practice lang... familiarized the cubies... especially dun sa center... para isang tingin mo lang dun sa center piece alam mo na kung saan sya dadalhin... dun malaki ibabawas ng time mo... then next is mga edges... since five puede tawagin quintedges... hehehehehhe... :D:D:D:D
it took me 1 week para bumaba sa sub2 (stackmat)... then another 1 week to make it close to sub1 (stackmat)... now isang stackmat na lang... hhehehhehehe... :D:D:D:D

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
Thank Sir Allan for the advices, noted po sila.
But I haven't tried to solve it straight talaga.
But I will try time it Sir, just to have an idea..(dapat madaling araw para wala istorbo. he he he)
As of now medyo nagagamay ko na yung centers pati yung pagdating sa last two centers, nagtatagal lang talaga ako sa last two 5-edges....hirap k makita galaw nung cubies. he he he.
Thanks again Sir for the advice.
GOD Bless.
...
--------- update
I have tried to solve the V7 straight without any interruptions....gosh I am slow...it took me 24.19 minutes.
Need to practice more...he he he..

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
**Update
Just wanna THANK the_joker for the tips
...i followed your advises and as of today, I can solve the V7 with lesser time. I downloaded vids (including yours) to see the techniques. From there I saw my problem in solving big cubes...the edge solving part.
What I am doing in the past was to solve the edge one by one (sets)...but after watching several vids, i noticed that most of you speedBIGcubers solve the edges like "at-once" with disregard to centers...w/c later on will be fixed.
Man it took me long to noticed this technique......this is one of the effect of not attending Cubemeets. he he he..
My fastest time in solving V7 is 22min..I am practicing more to lessen the time.
.
So once again, THANKS A LOT SIR ALLAN...it was you who gave me the idea on the edge solving part.
GOD Bless.

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
the edge method was Frank Morris method... we called it GARBAGE METHOD... kasi salpak ka lang ng salpak eh...
another variant is Free Slice... 85% Frank Morris with additional set-up... this is fast if you recognition and look ahead is good...
another edge method is MULTI-REDUCTION... solve the 3 inner edge... then kung buo na lahat solve it like 5x5x5 edges...
pero pag dating sa last 4 edges... isang glance lang... then decide which to use... pero mabilis ang MULTI-REDUCTION sa last 4 edges... i recommend learning and practicing it...
okay... keep on V7 cubing... hehehehehehhe... :D:D:D:D

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
yup... we call it AVG... from the inventor himself...
our jonathan papa "unscarred" uses that method from the MASTER NEIL ORTEGA... and di sa nagmamayabang i also learned that... kaso bano me sa look ahead at recognition... that is why i stayed with frank morris method and free slice method...
malakas din talaga magpop ang v7... konting maling ikot lang tilapon agad yung center-corner piece... pero with practice you can avoided that... how you grip the cube is one good solution for avoiding v7 to pop...
hope i help... thanks a lot... hehehehehhehe... :D:D:D:D

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
I got a White V-Cube 5x5x5 from Venom, today(November 23,2008).
The first time I opened it, the stickers were sticky, probably because of the lubricant that came with the package.
It was rough at first, so i thought of disassembling it then assemble while lubricating it when I get home.
I finished doing it, it was still rough, not as smooth as my eastsheen.
But it really cuts corners sooooooooooo well. I notice that it hardly pops because every pieces in the 5x5x5 supports every other pieces, like "anchorage". It only pops when the alignment of the layers is too much misaligned. If it is misaligned, two things can happen, either one of the pieces move out of the alignment then making the 5x5 immovable, or only ONE piece will pop.
i will put more updates about my experience.
One question: Did you guys also experience the V-cube to be rough at first?
thanks

YES. the 1st time my Friend used his V5 and I . it was quite rough. but after a few turns. it was not that rough nah.
just lube it with silicone. and let it dry for a night. although di xah magkakaroon ng much difference. pero, may pagbabago padin ng konti.
PS: mabigat padin!*

Re: Share Your V-CUBES Experience
How long did it took you to play after it became smooth? A week?
