How to Lube Your Cube!
Bigyan ko kayo ng short guide sa paglulube ng cube. Gawin ko na lang sa English para kahit may non-Pinoys, maintinidihan dn.
Materials
-Cube
-Silicone Spray
1) Rotate one layer of the cube 45degrees. Remove one edge by pulling at the top of the cube going down.
2) Dismantle the whole cube, and clean out the pieces by washing them or wiping them. (You can even sandpaper them if you want)
3) Arrange the pieces so that all the non-stickered edges are exposed.
4) Spray all the pieces with a light blanket. Try not to spray too close to the piece. It's okay to spray on the sticker.
5) Spray the core throughly.
6) Leave to dry for 15-20 mins.
7) Reassemble cube.
Mix around for about two to three minutes.
And your cube is now lubed! Just some guidelines:
1) Don't use petroleum jelly/vaseline! It can ruin the plastic of your cube when it hardens.
2) Use on fake cubes at your own risk. (My friend had this really hard fake cube. I removed one edge and sprayed the inside for a while and then thr cube was so slippery. One flick can turn one side 360degrees!)
3) It's important to let it dry first!
4) If you've already lubed with petroleum jelly, WASH IT ALL AWAY FIRST. I read somewhere that if you mix the two, they will form superglue. I don't know if this is true, but I'd better be safe than sorry.
5) Don't lube too often.
You can go to YouTube and watch the videos. While others remove only one edge and spray inside through that one edge, I'd recommend dismantling the whole cube.
The best cubes to lube are the TRU cubes. They have springs inside. The other cubes don't have springs and they're heavier as well. I've experienced lubing the spring type and the non-spring. The spring types perform way better.
Happy cubing! Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
Don't spray the core, the silicone damages the plastic.

Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
Lahat ata yun yung sinasabi eh. Siguro it has something to do rin with the screws not being able to be fastened properly. Baka dumulas and eventually lumuwag yung screws or something. Dunno...wild guess.

Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
actually kung di ako nagkakamali matagal nang may post about sa lubing bago pa tayo naging members ng pca (or noong kakaregister ko palang)... and it is NOT TRUE that it is ok to spray on the sticker coz it relatively shortens it's lifespan (mas madali masira yung sticker pero hindi agad nakikita yung effect).

Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
Oh I see. Well it won't harm it much, I guess. Won't it help provide like a layer to coat it and preserve it?
Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
I guess it depends on the material as to what the sticker is made. As to stickers of DIY cubes, I agree to magickero it wont harm that much, no harm at all!. Silicone spray contains materials that are not reactive to certain plastics like stickers to the extent of deteriorating it, they may even help to preserve the sticker's lifespan - I am a licensed chemist and I should know this.
Some people might conclude that the sticker deterioration is relatively due to the silicone spray components but there are so many factors to consider that can shorten the sticker's lifespan - from the sweat of your hands to environmental factors (where do you store your cubes, ambient temperature), how often do you use it, how often to you clean it and consider natural/spontaneous oxidation.
HTH

Re: How to Lube Your Cube!
@Thugster
Pangit ang effect noon dahil hindi nasespread ang silicone. For maximum lube, buksan mo talaga.
