So im new. Hi. :D Cubing frenzy? Bring it on. :D
Not sure if it is mandatory for newly registered geeks (thought so for me at least. try cubing every minute of your free time and spend most of your budget for cubes and lubes in return for intellectual gratification. ) to post here about their freshly found newbie-ness, but, yeah, i've posted on another thread before actually posting here, so sue me. ;p
Anywho, I am Michael. or, er.. mykel. Started an interest with cubes after seeing Beauty and the Geek Season 2, and Pursuit of Happyness. So that would be a rough 3 months of experience. I thought it really needed a genius consciousness (and a great deal of patience) to actually solve it. So I bought one after seeing it being only available at National Bookstore (which included an instructions sheet---ditched that since I wanted to solve without cheating)
So basically all my cubing obsessions throttled from there. Turned out, it was really fun after solving it for the first time and proceeded to speed cubing then on. Got my fist real cube. then another. and another one. then lubes. I love it
It's fun to know that, despite the scarcity of people who really appreciate the Rubik's Cube, there actually are a few common souls out there (especially being all from the same country) who, tuns out, will never find you odd for your somewhat unorthodox interests. (in contrast to a few more billion others who thinks otherwise)
So there. Other facts about me... uhh..
- I'm 20
- From Makati
- 138lbs
-Has a degree in Computer Engineering
-School? M.I.T. (no, not the one in Massachusetts. lol. Mapua)
- Current method : dunno, i just do the cross. then, have my own algorithms for the second layer and permutation. for orientation, i just know the corner switch. heheh. I've yet to learn F2L and some other last-layer algorithms.
- Fastest : 47seconds. I know it sucks. Will learn the fridrich method as soon as i have time. My own method is plainly layerlayer.
- Cubes : all 3x3x3s -- 2 National Bookstore "Magic" Cubes, 3 Rubik's.com ones, and 1 Justice league 39peso One
I'll just wrap it up from here. It's nice to meet you all. Have a wonderful day ;p

47 seconds with just the layer method is pretty quick!

thanks, van
@ punzki :
pretty quick and pretty much a lucky solve. I, however average sub-60 to a minute. And reading through the forums just made me realize that my methods are a tad let down. hehe. Such a pressure to memorize the 50+ algorithms of Fridrich's. waah!

Thanks guys
Wasn't really expecting a nifty welcome from many peeps.
I have found my home and I'd be dwelling here until my fingers are brutally barred from it's functions. 2 days and I've already learned so much. Great Community! :D:D
