a little history...

grade 5... nakahawak ng cube... from a classmate... di ko tanda kung ilang araw or linggo bago me natutung makabuo ng isang face...

then nag evolve na ang LBL method at nakakabuo na ng cube... until then LBL method pa din method ko...

around grade 5 din when i get a puzzle can... wala mabili mama ko ng 3x3x3... then mga 2 months ata yun... rubik snake naman... pero rubik twist ang tawag ngayon... di ko alam kung bakit...

grade 6 nang makabili me ng 3x3x3... BARAHA ang mga faces nya... nabubuo ko ang cube pero yun ibang centers baliktad... di naka ayos... heheheheh... :D:D...

first year ko na nalaman kung paano itama ang center sa cube ko...

first year college... nauso ulit... this time medyo advance na iba method... dito ko natutunan yung KEYHOLE pala ang tawag... petroleum jelly ang gamit namin nun panahon na yun...

amd now...

sept. 2007...
wala pa me 3x3x3 wala me mabilhan ayaw ko sa bangketa... so i ended buying eastsheen 2x2x2 sa NBS... hirap sa una kasi di ko marecognize pattern walang edges eh... pero took only a couple of hours to solve 2x2x2... using LBL 3x3x3 method...

nov. 2007... suweldo tingin uli sa NBS... kung meron na 3x3x3... di ko kasi alam na sa TRU lang makakabili ng RUBIKS.com na cube... ayun bagsak me sa 4x4x4 na eastsheen... almost a week... di ko alam kung paano sisimulan... i tried LBL pero lalo me naguguluhan... then thanks to a guy in ROBINSON manila... nagyayabang... nagpaparinig sa akin na... ang tagal daw nya buuin yung CENTERS... pero pagdating daw sa edges... madali lang... tapos "yun na daw"... di ko pa alam kung ano ibig sabihin ng YUN NA DAW... so i tried center and edges... namatay me sa edges... talagang suko me for 3 days... almost 4 days bago ko nabuo ang mga edges... with a use of 1 algs from the internet... tapos dun ko nakita ang ibig sabihin ng "YUN NA DAW"... ayun 3x3x3 na... took me a little longer of 2 hours bago ko narealize na 3x3x3 na pala cube once na mabuo ang centers at edges... then dun ko na nameet yun mga PARITY pala tawag... pero sinisira ko lang then buo ulit... ayun wala ng parity... heheheheh... :D:D

december 2007... robinson manila... meron ng shrink wrapped 3x3x3... ang tigas... grabe... LBL method again... from the memories... yabang ko... na i can solve it under a minute... no finger tricks... heheheheh... :D:D...

tapos january 2008... sa robinson manila... sa 2nd floor galing padre paura wing... may nagtitinda at sila daw ang distributor ng EASTSHEEN... same price din sila ng NBS... 5x5x5 naman nabili ko... nabubuo ko sya... without any algs... well just 1 algs for the edges from 4x4x4... ang di ko lang alam at malimit lumabas ay yung parity sa edges na lahat ng edges okay na pero yun isa di okay... yun middle edges naka flip... so solution ko is sirain yun tatlong edges then buuin uli... pag lumabas ulit sira ulit...

february 2... naging member me ng PCA... pero di pa ako nagspeedcubing... LBL pa rin me...

february 4... nalaman ko SILICONE SPRAY... ever since... petroleum jelly gamit ko... so linis ng cube hugas... then apply silicone spray... galing... very smooth...

february 7... i started reading F2L... fridrich method... trying to learn it... so i start with CROSS... any where... kahit saan ko binubuo... paikot ikot yun... heheheheh... then F2L... only 3 algs... actually 5 algs... since mirror lang yun dalawa...

february 8... may 1st ever CUBEMEET... nakita ko na nagbebenta si BARUBHAL ng pvc sticker... at may cubemeet ng friday... sa gateway 3pm... so punta me... bili ng sticker... then nameet ko si EMZ taba... at si HAIL-LEE daldal... at si THIRD... si NEWO... si JOULES... si MR. PRINCE... at si HANS at si PAUL... may iba pa nalimutan ko name... gulat ako kasi ang bibilis nila... alam nila OWEN at THIRD at HAIL-LEE yun... di ko alam ang BACK PRIME... tinanong ako ni THIRD... waaah... wala me nasagot... tapos di ako marunong gumamit ng STACKMAT... tinuruan pa ako ni HAIL-LEE... tapos simpleng nagyabang si THIRD... syempre pacute kay alam nyo na... hehehehhe... at hanga ako tulo laway... medyo madiin na sabi ng "KABISADO KO LAHAT NG OLL at PLL"... heheheheheh... di ako makapagbuo ng CUBE kasi 5 algs lang alam ko sa F2L... tapos LBL ang LL ko... waah... hiyang hiya me... pero di lang me nagpahalata... heheheheh... syempre... di patatalo si EMZ... pasikat din sya sa iba... bilis ng finger tricks... gamit yun walang kamatayan nyang YELLOW DIY na BLACK ang ORANGE... at kay THIRD ko nakita yun medyas ang gamit na lagayan ng CUBE...

february 17... kabisado ko na ang 7 OLL... at 21 PLL... 5 algs pa rin sa F2L... iniwan ko para makabisado ko yun OLL at PLL...

february 21... my first DIY arrived... 2 white DIY type (a)... and also start a very EXPENSIVE HOBBY... heheheheh... :D:D

february 26... change to intuitive F2L... balik uli sa 55 to 1.xx min average.... pero mas comportable me execute...

march 1... payday... bought a 4x4x4 rubiks revenge and 5x5x5 rubiks professor... and bought also a new RUBIKS cube... shrink wrapped... all went up a good buy... kasi lahat ng cube ganda ng kinalabasan... ika nga ang suwerte ko dahil maganda ang nakuha ko...

march 3... may big history about big cube... sa trinoma... bigmeet yun... dami natin... BENJO and JOULES sa 5x5x5... hingi idea para sa tredges... naapply ko naman pero di kasing bilis nila... at sa kapatid kong nawawala si NEIL ORTEGA... hehehehhe... nagturo ng ALGS parity sa 5x5x5... yun baliktad yun gitna ang edges... then meet in person si JR SIMBULAN... at dami ko na nameet dito sa cubemeet... started learning megaminx... nanonood lang me kay NEIL at BENJO... then hiram ng megaminx patry try pa... then un na nagaaral na me magmegaminx...

march 8... exactly 1 month of FRIDRICH method... break the sub50 seconds average... bagal ng progress ko... INTUITIVE F2L, 7 OLL at 21 PLL... pero okay na para sa akin...

march 17... start learning some OLL... paunti unti... started with all the period... yun mga edges eh di naka orient... then move on to another... but this time... i've learned a lesson... tumagal kasi me sa PLL... almost every PLL cases eh 2 alam kong algs... kasi papalit palit... some cases sa PLL 3 algs ang alam ko... at take note... medyo speed execution pa ang mga yon... pero naka fix na PLL ko ngayon... yun na lagi ko gamit...

march 27... my birtday... i post another progress... break the sub40 average... thanks to some OLL... medyo bumilis... at medyo nagimprove execution ko... finger tricks medyo okay na kahit dami sabit... RECOGNITION still sucks...

march 28... i get a warning from posting a doble post then deleted my post... wow grabe... higpit ng MODS... hehehehehehe... :D:D...

and now at present...
CROSS is improve... now i solve cross at the bottom... F2L execution is improve... i'm using both my hands... i used left execution pag malapit sa left hand yun pair... then use right execution pag malapit sa right hand... but RECOGNITION still sucks... average of 25 seconds...

OLL = 45 cases... only 19 can execute faster and smoother... average of 6 seconds... the rest can execute with an average of 10 seconds... recognition is not that fast pa... need more practice... but HEY only 12 OLL more to go... iniwan ko yun mga medyo mahirap ALGS... kahit saan me maghanap mahirap talaga mga algs... itatanong ko na lang sa cubemeet... heheheheh...:D:D

PLL (21 cases)... improve on execution... average of 3-4 seconds...

and my average so far is sub35... two weeks na since i broke the sub40... bagal sobra ng improvement... haaay... grabe...

syensya na kung mahaba... share ko lang... bigla lang me naging sentimental today... parang gusto umiyak... hhuhuuhuhuhuhu...

my history naman allan...

1st year h-school... first encounter ko sa rubiks cube... (original pa).. from a friend of a friend (Bing Loyzaga wud u believe...) di pa xa artista nun... (most of you wud b clueless kung sino yun...... )... sabi niya try ko daw i-solve yung puzzle. it took me the whole day para makatapos ng 2 sides.. tapos inuwi nya na yung cube

so kinulit ko ng kinulit ang parents ko para bumili nun... yun nga nagkaron lang dito mga NBS cubes... nabuo ko siya first time in two days widout any method pa.. freestyle lang.. 1 side (color) at a time... na-alala ko pa na ang huling inayos ko ay tatlong edge in 3 sides.. (now known as U-perm).. it took me ages to fix this... di ko nga ginalaw yung cube for 1 week kasi baka di ko mabuo ulit... dun na nagumpisa ang addiction ko sa cube.... cubing at home.. cubing at the park... cubing at school...(cguro more than 15 cubes ang napa confiscate ko... puro hiram pa.. h ).....

then nauso ang pyraminx at rubiks magic... madali lang siya.. di nga lang kasing saya ng 3x3 ..... uso pa nga noon ay BARAHA at mga cartoon characters... nyaaaa ang sagwa..nakuha ko naman agad ang pag orient ng centers... saglit nga lang eh.

after a while. natutunan ko yung LBL... (last year ko nga lang nalaman yung keyhole na yan eh)... medyo weird nga kasi most of the cubers i know back then... sa top layer, corners first then edge... ako naman edges then corners... puro ganon lang.. LBL.... LBL.... LBL... wow bilis ko!!! wuhu!!! laging under a minute.... LBL....

... married na...
... may kids na....

... fast forward sa present time... (mga mid 2007).. nakakita ako ng 2x2... wow iba ito ah... bagong challenge.... ay! saglit lang natapos agad... dun ulit bumalik ang interes ko sa cube... tapos nun 4x4x4 (gift sa akin) try ko syang i-solve by layer... na solve naman pero dyang tagal... tapos meron pang configuration na ngayon ko lang nakita... PARITY nga sabi ni Allan... ako din.. sinisira ko uli tapos aayusin... pero Layer by layer pa rin.... haaay momords talaga... eniweis, nalaman ko na lang na mahilig din pala si Lester sa cube..... malaman ko na lang meron na palang PCA dito at member si Lester... di lang member... admin pa... co-founder din ata.... at ang tagal na pala ng PCA.... goodness gravy!!!!???!!! ... saan ako nang-galing at napag iwanan na ako...

sa tulong ng internet at Lester, napagtanto ko na marami na palang method sa 3x3 cube... and CFOP being the most popular... inaral ko siya.. pero i've fallen into the habit of using LBL, so when i switch to F2L bumagal pa lalo ako... (and to think na less than a minute na ako sa LBL akala ko mabilis na.. yun pala... haaaay)...

kaya hanggang ngayon cube addict pa rin ako.... sa collection na lang ako nag concentrate ngayon.... kc no chance na ako sa speedcubing/blinfold/4x4x4..... thunders na kasi eh.. di na ganon kabilis ang hand and eye (and brain) coordination (arthritis pa..).

thanks nga pala sa mga fellow PCA cubers na nag inspire ulit sa akin mag cube... kaya ngayon, wife ko, 2 daughters ko.. kasambahay ko... kapitbahay ko.. officemates ko ay cubers na rin...

Haha. Great job. And I thought I was the one who used LBL the longest (6 years). Kayo ni Sir Allan, talagang naabutan ang boom nung 80's. Kakainggit. Well, at your age, di pa late humabol. Ron van Bruchem held for quite some time the record for the fastest solve (now 2nd, 9.55s) of the 3x3x3.

TheJoker and pbe_jse are veterans by virtue of age and exposure. Haha.

Para nasa isang thread lang lahat kasi with everyone's complaining about noobie-related threads and "rapid byte consumption"... La lang. btw nice story. I'd like to hear stories form other cubers/cubists out there... ^^
