Tips for Roux solvers?
I just finished learning the basics of the Roux method (http://grrroux.free.fr/method/Intro.html) and I'm able to solve the cube using Roux now. I learned from Roux's site and the tutorial videos on YouTube. My times are slowly but surely improving; I'm now down to sub-80 but I was sub-40 with my old "X method". But I'm really having difficulty with the first 2 steps (forming the 2 1x2x3 blocks)... dun talaga ako mabagal. Mahina ako sa pagbuo ng blocks. Siguro kasi galing ako sa corners-first method so I don't have any experience with F2L algos...
Does anyone have any tips/useful links on how to get faster with the Roux method? Or any tips on block-building in general? Thanks!

Bim, Tymaishu, help?
I just finished watching these videos of Gilles Roux himself solving the cube (using the Roux method, ano pa ba? hehehe): http://www.strangepuzzle.com/videos.php?firstName=Gilles&lastName=Roux&puzzleType=3x3x3&range=%3C&solveTime=
He averages sub-20 so that's enough evidence for me that the Roux method can be really fast and that it's worth learning. But then again it's his method so dapat lang mabilis siya! If you watch the videos, he forms the 1x2x3 blocks in 8 seconds or less... that's wicked!

yep. roux is really interesting. quite fast and easy recognition. i bet it can be faster than cfop. i would hav studied roux if i learned about it earlier.

Re: Tips for Roux solvers?
To maximize Roux you really must make full use of the 15-second initial look... dapat dun pa lang buo muna yung 1st 1x2x3 block and you already have looked ahead somewhat into the 2nd block. I don't think it will ever beat CFOP, except maybe if you were Gilles Roux! Hehe.
Just an update on my Roux method learnings... I'm now almost down to sub-60!!! I started at sub-120 just a week ago.

Re: Tips for Roux solvers?
Just want to share an update. After another week of practice, I'm now down to sub-50, with a best time of 32.28! And I got confident enough to use Roux in this week's Nascarjon Sunday contest. My average for the contest was 43.39, which is also my best-ever average with Roux! In contrast, my best average for the "X method" is 34.42, but that's after 6 years of using it!
Things to improve on: learn all 24 algs for COLL (I do it in a two-step fashion: orient then permute, with only 6 algs learned so far), and improve on fingertricks especially for the M moves (my cube is not loose enough to perform an M move with one finger ).

Re: Tips for Roux solvers?
i'll try roux method after i memorized all the OLL algos. less than 20 algorithms to memorize. and i'll re-learn some of them.
kelangan talaga, fast recognition mo when using roux. because some edges that you need for the 1x2x3 block is in the M slice. tama b??

Re: Tips for Roux solvers?
Hey Paulo, what do you mean by "fast recognition"?
Actually yung mga 1x2x3 block, sanayan lang talaga. The first one can be solved easily by making use of the 15-second look, the second one you'll have to come up with a systematic way to do it since you are more restricted.
