How do you memorize your algos?
How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
I was just curious about how people normally memorize the algorithms.
Do you memorize the notations?
Or do you memorize the movements? (ex. you do the algorithm over and over until you can do it without a guide.)
Or maybe do you do both?
Or (most likely not) do you not memorize any at all?

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
most people here memorize the movements..muscle memory..masyadong mahirap imemorize ang notations..plus..mabagal ang pagrecall then pagexecute..

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
but for me @jolo i memorize the notation first..while memorizing the movements..

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
movement ang da best... before memorizing the moves... plan it on your fingertricks... find a move that it is comfortable... kahit mabagal lang sya sa simula...
then it will evolve to a fast finger tricks... no need to memorize the algos... just that you can read notations correctly is enough...
then practice it overtime... two days... mabilis bilis na sya... tapos magugulat ka bigla... mapapansin mo na parang maiksi lang pala yun algs pero pag binasa mo ang haba-haba...
muscles memory is the way... okay...
hehehehehehe... :D:D:D:D

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
Good day po.
I agree with Sir Allan, "muscle memory" is the best.
Prefer ko din sya because kapag nasanay ka sa movement ng algo, mas mabilis ang execution mo..that is "move without thinking".
I notice lang kasi, nung first time ko mag-memo ng PLL, (Fridrich algs), notation muna tapos movement. I thought okei n sya but ng magpalit ako ulit ng PLL algs, I did the same but this time, I read the notation then sabay movement, then nung makita ko na yung galaw ng cube, I made it a point na ma-familiarize ng fingers ko yung movement.
("move without thinking") - What I notice is, pag nakita ko na yung pattern, kusa ng ini-execute ng fingers ko, dati kasi iniisip ko pa tapos dun pa lang gagalaw fingers ko...parang nangyayari skin now is hindi n mksabay yung mind ko sa galaw ng daliri ko, ayaw ko n nga din tingnan kasi pansin ko din, kapag tinitingnan ko, nabagal pa yung execution...I don't know..experience ko lang po.
So, yun lang po. Just shared lang yung "MY" memo method.
Keep on cubing.
GOD BLESS.
ps:
pero hindi ako mabilis ha, like the masters...
...papunta pa lng..he he he. Think positive!
Kaka-break ko p lng ng sub-50 barrier.

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
minsan parehas notations and movements
pg madali lng un notations...
pero kung mahirap ung notations...
movements nlng...
...♥
Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
Most of cubers minmemo sya ng hindi diretsahan kagad kasi hinde mo kaya mag-memo ng 100++ algorithms in 1 day. I recomend na mag memo ka ng mga 5-10 algortihms per day and practice mo ung notations and movements nya.
Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
It's better both... kasi kung dedepende lng sa muscle memory... there is a high chance na magkaroon ka ng one hand amnesia pag lumabas ung case na minemo mo...
Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
natral..kelngan memo. mu pwa masolve mu ang cube.

memorizing the movements allows you to easily perform its mirror ^_^

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
MOVEMENTS!!! ..
ako mismo, movements -------> muscle memory
advantage nya rin is mas madali mong mamememo at mamamaster yung algo.
kasi parang nagdodoble-doble ka ng memorization
pag notation+movement. unlike if movement lang, masasanay ka lang with your muscle memory.
pero jan ako nahirapan. kasi i started memorizing algos ng PLL at OLL WITHOUT FINGERTRICKS.
so, nasanay ako na. "hands" ang nagcocoordinate sa muscle memorization..
my muscles, my fingers (or hands? =p) ,,,
e used na in doing the algo that way --> w/o fingertricks.
So ngayon, pag tinatry ko magfingertricks sa isang algo,
na "a-amnesia" ako.
That's because, i started w/o fingertricks and memo'd+mastered the movements w/o fingertricks.
Yun naman ang advantage ng namemo mo yung notations.
Kasi, kung sa case ko sana, if namemo ko by notations, edi sana pag nagtry ako magfingertricks, e tatabla.
In my case, pag nagtry na ako magfingertricks sa mga algs, it's like repeating my memorization + masterization of the supposed to be matatapos na na Fridrich escapades. Bale, parang uulit ako mula sa simula lalo na sa OLL at PLL na by movements ko minemo.
Isa pang advantage ng notations is sa OH.
maraming nahihirapan at na-aamnesia sa OH (sa oll at pll) ,,
kasi by movements nila minemo yung mga algs which is ---> using both hands (3x3 speedsolve). muscle memory and coordination of both hands.
Unlike if kabisado mo pati notations, madali nalang mag-OH.
pero ang mas preffered parin talaga is movements nalang.
pero movements+notations would be best.
kasi mas maraming advantages at paggagamitan yun.

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
movements and some notations. para di ma "One Hand Amnesia". kapag nag OH ako tapos di ko maalala yung execution, iisipin ko yung notation para ma-execute ko ng tama. hehe

Re: How do you normally memorize you algorithms?
i do it paulit ulit and the movement ....for some i didnt memorize the algo...so sa lbl na oh (hahah) nakakalimutan ko sa lasl layer corner part...so ngayon sa pag memo ko ng fridrich...memrize ko na din algo
