Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
So I'm planning on buying my first 4x4x4 and 5x5x5. I haven't made up my mind yet, whether I'm gonna buy a Rubik's.com cube or an Eastsheen cube. I figured, it would be best for me to ask you guys. So in your opinion which of the two is better and why? Thanks guys.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
Already did a review of all non-DIY cubes some time back. Here's the link: https://pinoyspeedcubers.forumotion.com/cubing-discussions-f7/list-of-available-non-diy-cubes-in-local-stores-t1039.htm
Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Thanks Sir Jome. That helped a lot, but I am yet to be convinced. Hehe. Meron ka bang personal experiences regarding such cubes? pros and cons? Personal favorite? Thanks ulit.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
Personal experiences? Meron akong isa. Go for Eastsheen on 4x4x4 and 5x5x5. Reason follows.
Stroke of luck lang talaga. Nagamit ko na lahat and I must say na kapag maganda ang Rubik's mo, maganda talaga. Pero kapag hindi, hindi. Right now, I got a Revenge na hindi pa lubed pero masmadulas pa sa 3x3x3 ko at kayang mag-cut ng corners without popping. Pero yung 5x5x5 ko, basura. Sobra. No turn without the risk of popping, kahit outside layers lang. And hindi pa speedcubing ginagawa ko nun.
Eastsheen has the solid reputation of being usable and cuber-friendly out of the box. While smaller and more expensive (pero P50 lang naman), they compensate by being "speed"-able every single time. I can confidently say that you can buy 10 ES 4x4x4's and 5x5x5's without your money going to waste.
For Rubik's products, be it the 3x3x3 keychain all the way to the Professor, kung pangit, pangit. Kung matino, sobrang tino.
Conclusion: Rubik's for 3x3x3 but Eastsheen for everything else.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
Wow. Thanks sir. Kasi diba ung Rubik's.com sealed yung cubies? Solid kumbaga.

i have the exact opposite. my rubiks 5x5 is so good, but my rubiks 4x4 is a sh*t.

@papplazy
Hindi problem yun. At least hindi siya uber-prone to popping, unlike the Rubiks ones.
@pajodaep
Napansin ko nga yun. Haha. Gagamitin mo ba yung sa akin? Cubemeet tayo one last time before Open!

Haha. So mukhang totoo nga yung sabi ni Sir Jome
Jome wrote:Stroke of luck lang talaga.
Sorry sir. Daming tanong. Gathering my facts before buying.

it depends if you want the heavy type or the light types. or the color schemes. many factors on your personal opinion. i like BOTH eastsheen and rubik's 5x5. for the 4x4, i only have rubik's. the rubik's cubes i have for 4x4 and 5x5 are both bought from japan. so i find it better quality than the ones bought from the TRU shops here.
Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
@papplazy
Concerning the year of production, nung recent years lang kasi gumanda ang cubes. About the springs, ok lang naman kahit walang springs ang Eastsheen dahil di mo rin naman ganun kadalas maii-cut ng corners yun. Sa 4x4x4, sa 3x3x3 phase na ako nagcu-cut. Sa 5x5x5, halos hindi na. So I find it useless na kayang mag-cut ng corners ng Rubik's kahit na maganda ang makuha mo.
Try to attend a cubemeet sometime. Kung makapunta ako and yung others na may big cubes, we'll show you. Pero right now, Eastsheen is the way to go. Unless DIY yung 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 mo, the difference is negligible.
@pajodaep
Haha. Haha.

I think it also depends on which color scheme you would like. People who are used to the Rubiks Orange might find it troublesome to switch to the Eastsheen Pink/Purple/Fuschia.

Sir Jonathan, what's your verdict? Eastsheens or Rubik's.com?
Are Eastsheen's tournament legal?
I just got a 2x2x2 Eastsheen for Christmas. Super dulas, ang galing.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
They are tournament legal, as far as I know. Neil, a friend of mine, will compete at the 5x5x5 using his Eastsheen cube.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
I would prefer Eastsheen nlang.
It's better to be safe and use Eastsheen.

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
Usually damaged kasi ung core. You need to buy a new core if that's the case. Sometimes, the cubies have defects like if the machines didn't cut them well. A little nailcutter then would do the job.

Ngek naman. So nagtitinda sila ng sira? That's just...so...uhhh...wrong...Di ba sila papayag na i-exchange pag damaged ung product? Sila meaning TRU or kung ano mang store? That's unfair....

Re: Rubik's.com vs. Eastsheen
Not really. They manufacture thousands of cubes every year. There really is a chance of getting bad cubes. Eastsheen is small-time compared to Rubik's. The best way to really get a working 4x4x4 and 5x5x5, other than Eastsheen, is to order a DIY.
Or wait for the Olympic Cubes. Haha.
Or wait for the Olympic Cubes. Haha.
I mean, let's say you bought a Nintendo Wii from TRU, pagkauwi mo malalaman mo na sira...diba pwede ka naman bumalik dun para papalitan?
Wait for the Olympic Cubes? Arent they available for retail?
Haha, you know what's funny? I thought Olympic Cubes are just fantasy cubes made by cube fanatics. Haha. Silly me.
