New Lubricant Empty Re: New Lubricant

Post by TheJoker Mon Mar 03, 2008 9:46 pm

yes sir... nakakatulong po... kaso it will eat plastic in the long run...

wd-40 and other multi-purpose lubricants... kumakain ng plastic pag nagtagal...

solution is ... spray the cube... dami guide dito on how to lube the cube... sundin nyo lang po yun...

then gamitin nyo na uli yung cube nyo... once a month or twice is the best na maglube... pero linisin muna ang cube bago mag-apply uli ng SILICONE SPRAY...

sana nakatulong me sa inyo...

salamat po marami... hehehehhehe... LOL...

LOL...

Aww...pity you Rubix...your cube now has and expiration date. Speaking of effective yet fugly-in-the-long-run lubricants, try mc all purpose cleaner...yung parang margarine na nakalagay sa lata. Mabango at at madulas...and it'll quiet the beast...kaso after awhile...parang iba na yung feeling...not recmended at all unless complete and utterly desperate...

The best lube would be Rubiks.com cube lube. The cube works instantly well even just after lubing.

from www.cubelube.com HOME:

"It's certainly better than nothing, but nowhere near as good as the real stuff. For one you have to be careful that your favorite brand (say Prestone) has not added petroleum distillates which may ruin your cube."

New Lubricant Empty Re: New Lubricant

Post by TheJoker Wed Mar 05, 2008 6:03 pm

i don't agree a little with you sir marc... as you posted a site about it... and read further... you can easily see the disadvantage of lubricant with petroleum distillates on plastic such as our cube...

http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1365798
"eh harmless naman pala eh..." yes... it was talking about in general... like motor oil... it is usefull to have it... it lubricates and protect from scratches...

but on plastic...

here what he said about it...
BENEFICIAL RESULTS FOR APPEARANCE
The reason that petroleum distillates are used in most appearance care products is because they perform many different and important functions at an affordable price. Over 90% of the thousands of paste and liquid Car Waxes and Polishes formulated today contain significant amounts of petroleum distillate, from the best known brands to the lesser known, as well as the highly regarded premium quality brands used by professional detailers. It is used in these products because petroleum distillates easily dissolve waxes and silicones and become an excellent medium to allow them to be spread on a surface. They also cut quickly through oily dirt and light grease and helps lubricate the surface and prevent scratching.

Products that are used on plastic, vinyl and rubber surfaces should be formulated from very special types of petroleum distillate that contain little if any of the harsher aromatic and naphthenic molecules. While this type of highly refined paraffinic distillate costs a good deal more, it helps insure that the product does not attack the surface or remove important components from the vinyl or rubber when used as directed -- yet, it does help to clean and lubricate the surface. Such products can be formulated to leave behind a rich and protective film of wax or silicone (or both) to help lengthen the useful life of the surface and prevent cracking and shrinkage. The use of petroleum distillate allows premium UV Blockers to be included in the formulation as the most effective ones are not soluble in water. This can provide excellent protection against deterioration, chalking and fading caused by sunlight.

as you can see in the section... especially the BOLD one... ibang klase dapat or wala dapat... because "it helps insure that the product does not attack the surface or remove important components from the vinyl or rubber when used as directed"...

so meaning... PETROLEUM DISTILLATE is good but not on PLASTIC... okay po... Products that are used on plastic, vinyl and rubber surfaces should be formulated from very special types of petroleum distillate that contain little... so kailangan ng ibang klaseng PETROLEUM DISTILLATE when it used on plastic, vinyl or rubber... expensive yung ganun... di basta PETROLEUM DISTILLATE... a very special types of PETROLEUM DISTILLATE which is very expensive...

hope i clear this matter... peace po...
