SpeedCubing a Sport?.?.?.?. . . .
To all cubers out there, do you notice that there are so many RUBIK's cube competitions are held in our country today, so many OPENs in different parts of the country, many people are interested in speedcubing. So many compettions prove that speedcubing can be a sport.Based on Mateus de Almeida said on an interview on GMA7, the RCPO2K8 was the biggest rubiks competition held because of the number of participants that took part of it. It is my basis of making this post.
come to think of it.
Do you consider Speedcubing a sport?
Maybe yes, it is a sport for us cubers, but how about for others???? some think that solving the cube is enough and speed solving it is just a waste of time and it is just a crap. I think i am not the only one here who have experience someone you know will tell you that solving the cube in just a matter of second has no sense (ok na yung mabuo mo, kalokohan lang yan, bat ka pa magaaksaya ng panahon para masterin yan).
someone i know suggested that, why won't we make a plea on making SPEEDCUBING a sport. he also said, (tutal napakadaming pinoy ang interesado at magaling sa cubing, bakit ndi natin ito gawing tunay na LARO at maaari pa natin itong imungkahi na isali sa palarong pambansa) impossible right?? palarong pambansa is a big thing.it is not easy on taking cubing out there.
we know it is impossible to take speedcubing to the next level but i want it and i am eager on aiming it, don't you want us to be recognized? don't you want our organization and interest be recognized by the people?
@ all
post your opinion about this.i will appreciate your opinions. THANKS a lot.

Re: SpeedCubing a Sport?.?.?.?. . . .
it can be a sport, but, only a few peope are into speedcubing, for now. If you total the number of speedcubers in the world, ang unti grabe.. Maybe it's not yet the time to make it as a sport.. For now, cubes are being sold in TOY shops, not in sportshouse. But the RCPO2k8 event is one step to turn cubing into a sport, formally
Like cockfighting, it's a sport and by the time I known that, I was shocked!! haha... sport pala yun? Baka kasi ganito mangyari sa speedcubing, it still needs time

Re: SpeedCubing a Sport?.?.?.?. . . .
This has been bothering me for a long time.
First of all, I would like to start out that there is a fact that every person is unique. Physically they cannot look EXACTLY like someone else (That's why human cloning remains a very ethical isssue.) They can have the same qualities like someone else, but they may not be perfect, such as how zebras' stripes look all the same but not perfectly the same as someone elses'.
The same goes to their interests. An artist may consider painting their main source of income, or their main interest; a competition; a worldwide sport, but for others, like people who are more interested in physical games consider it as just a leisure. A philosopher may consider saying every thing they want to their way of living while a laid back person considers debates as sources of war.
Kahit na speedcubers consider cubing a sport, meron kasing mentality na ang sport ay more on physical aspects, though there are some sports that are more on mental aspects; like chess (And some people don't even consider it as one because of that mentality). Some "sports" like these need a lot more time to be famous, so that there will be fairness between physical sports and these sports that has to do with the mind, and kahit na may competition, kelangan pa ng TIME para kumalat ito sa mundo, at maging common thinking na na ang speedcubing ay sport, that's why PCA is made, to spread the word of cubing, and to prove that speedcubing IS a sport, as it really is in other countries around the world.
I think the only shortcut is for us to 1. move and to 2. wait. Only with these two factors alone we could make speedcubing officially a sport.

Re: SpeedCubing a Sport?.?.?.?. . . .
nagsearch ako sa wikipedia...
well, ayon sa wiki...
pwede itong mind sport...
plus!
practice pa ng fingertricks tapos bilis pa ng utak..
Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determiner of the outcome (winning or losing), but the term is also used to include activities such as mind sports (a common name for some card games and board games with little to no element of chance) and motor sports where mental acuity or equipment quality are major factors.

I honestly think this is going too far. It's simply a hobby like any other hobbies such as collecting stamps or cards. Speedcubing has been termed a hobby-sport lots of times and I think it should be kept that way.
Scholarships are usually offered to people who dedicate their time to both training and studying at the same time. Obviously you've all noticed naman na only the really financially privileged or those who save money(like me) ones can afford speedcubing as a hobby.
Opinion ko lang ito ah! ^^

Anong pinaglalabanan nila dun? Anong nakukuha nila dun? Good Physical Health?

Re: SpeedCubing a Sport?.?.?.?. . . .
Matagal ng sport ang speedcubing. From the first world championships and until now, speedcubing is a sport. I consider speedcubing a sport cause you are competing with other competitiors. Pero akala ng iba na ang Rubik's Cube is only a toy for kids, na ang only goal is mabuo lahat ng sides, they dont care about the time.(yan ang pananaw ng ibang tao) Pero para sa atin ang speedcubing is a sport..
